We have new neighbours. In the large willow tree at the back of our garden appeared a new hole. It was clearly visible, the sun was shining over the freshly cut orange coloured edges of the new hole. The willow is almost thirty meters high, a real whopper.
This new hole is at a height of 5 meters. The residents have not been spotted yet, but I assume that it will be the nesting place of a great spotted woodpecker. We should be able to find out who lives here in spring. Now I know it’s there, the hole is clearly visible.
