Tree following 7: Something about the willow

Bijdrage voor een Engelstalige site, van bomen-volgers. Het idee erachter is om 12 maanden lang 1 boom te volgen. Wij hebben de grote wilg in de achtertuin gekozen.

It is this time of the month…
… to write about our willow tree.

The willow is by fare the most ‘voluminous’ tree in our garden.
No more soft yellow of the catkins, these all dropped off weeks ago.
Full in leave now, greyish-green.
No big changes for several months to come.

The willow is ….
A community of wild life. Insects, birds nesting and foraging for these insects.
A hunting ground for larger birds, like the magpie and jay, hunting for the smaller birds.
A transport route for the red squirel, every now and then we see one in our garden.

Where is the willow in this picture? Start at the oranje tiled roof of the shed and go straight up.

    1. Thanks Erika
A lot of snow in Sweden at this moment. Last week we had a spell of frost in The Netherlands, -10 at night, close to zero during the day. That was then, now we are back up to + 10 during the day.
